That looks like the same species, or closely related to one I posted on the previous page (post #3875).

Thanks for sharing. When it's the scientists that start using the word "armageddon", we should probably be getting a little worried. I could actually witness a global ecological catastrophe within my lifetime...

Thanks for posting. The alarm bells have been getting louder and louder, it's great they had the insight to start systematically monitoring this years ago. The original paper is available here in full: More than 75 percent decline over 27 years in total flying insect biomass in protected areas

We've had an exceptionally warm fall so far, which has prolonged macro season quite a bit! Last year I shot my last dragonfly/damselfly on October 7th, and this year I got a bunch of shots just yesterday, October 23rd. And there's even no sub-freezing-point night in the forecast for the next two weeks. Dragonflies in November?

So here are a couple from the last few days.

1) A wide-angle close-up of a bumble bee pollinating an aster flower, whose bush that was just in total bloom this weekend at the Montreal Botanical Garden:

2) A portrait shot of a Spotted Spreadwing damselfly at 2:1 plus a moderate crop. Frame is about 10mm wide:

More from the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens - An abundance of these at a particular spot with a particular shrub.

Those are quite nice. What are your initial impressions of the raynox so far? I've been thinking about getting one.

Thanks Knock. Well worth the investment. And it enjoys the favor of many a Forumite here. I'm still practicing on it, but so far, its impressive.

"LOL" It only took me how many years to convince you?

Just so you know, the DCR-150 works best with lenses longer than 100mm.

So I've discovered, though it does not seem too bad with the 28-80mm Sigma Macro lens and with the 18-55mm kit lens, though the focusing seems troublesome. . Good to know though!

Also a good thing to think about is DOF where a f5.6 won't give you much depth, f8 and higher will.Or try stacking like Pascal does.
And be aware of diffraction can be seen in f stops over f16.
