Hey Bruce, I have seen that shaped spider in my garden in FNQ. Will dig up some picks and put them in the spider thread. ;-)

From the visit to a park today, all with the K-30, 50-200mm Lens and the Raynox 150

The leaf Hopper gave me a frontal view

This one too fast for me, gone before I could try better focus. Not sure what it is?

It looks similar to an insect here called a snowy tree cricket. Their singing - actually chorusing, there are scores to hundreds sometimes - in the evening generally marks the very end of summer in this area. The one in your photo must be at least a different genus, but it looks very similar. I've tried many evenings to photograph those fellows, tracking them down by pausing and listening, but they are really, really hard to locate. There is a formula that allows a reasonable estimate of the temperature by counting the number of "calls" one of these makes in a minute

I think you are correct, but not able to track (yet) the exact genus. Probably subspecies Oecanthinae. Thank you! Who needs encyclopedia when you can utilise PF and a certain knowledgeable fellow from Messychewbits

the Jiminy Conjecture. To those familiar with the Big Bang Theory show Sheldon lost a bet to Howard when Lewis Black confirmed it wasn't a snowy tree cricket. Not saying this one isn't.

Big Bang Theory love that show. Shelly is the best. Used to watch it every week.

Yes you are probaby Right, looks close to Oecanthus fultoni to me, i.e. the thermometer tree cricket...
Snowy Tree Cricket (Oecanthus fultoni) · iNaturalist.org

The formula is to count the number of songs they make in 7 seconds, and add +5 to that number to get the actual temperature in Celcius...
There are other formulas for Fahrenheit units, but I do not know them...

It works, I've tested it more that once...

This one could go under show me your... texture, bokeh, chromatic aberation hehe. Well this demonstrates the 77mm CA nicely but I used the CA for this one.
Here is once again Gasteracantha Cancriformis and its web. Some build all the way in maybe this one is taking a break.

Interesting! Except we do not have snow around here, well only occasionally. In the 34 years I have been in Johannesburg, there has been snow only once, and that only a sprinkling. There was a heavier downfall around 1978/79. So I must infer that the snowy is a reference to its color rather than its environment. Oh, and i did not sing, not for me at any rate
