WOW, thank you Had no idea such a critter even existed, and now I am doubly glad I got a shot of it. It was quite skittish, and flew from leaf to leaf. The value of this Forum is just unbelievable!

You're welcome! I didn't know they existed either, until I came across one in the front hall of our apartment building. Looked like something from another planet. I got some shots of it, but they're residing on another drive at the moment. The specimen I came across was quite calm and even sat on my finger for some portraits. I subsequently found a photo of one in my copy of John Shaw's Closeups in Nature (which I recommend highly), so probably should have known that they existed...

The New York Times just published "The Insect Apocalypse is Here" just two days ago. It is behind a pay wall but you can read 5 articles a month for free.
A direct link is right here. It's a long but excellent read, and well worth it for any and all insect lovers. And it's absolutely terrifying. We are on the brink of quite a precipice...

And idea what this colorful critter is? I think I've seen something similar somewhere on this thread. Interesting to watch through the lens, seems like its using roller skates to get around.

Found this unprocessed stack from the spring and thought it was decent enough to give it a once over & put up...

Hehe, well I know in the UK they're called pegs, dunno about down under, we call them that as we come from the UK originally but I haven't had many conversations with our fair dinkum home bred aussie friends surrounding the topic of washing and drying so I must check! After all they call 'thongs' something you wear on your feet here!

That last is funny be "thongs" here are definitely not worn on our feet.

I said you Ozzies but I was only going by your location under your name. Didn't know you were a transplant.
As an honorary Ozzie myself, I'll have to ask our mod team that are true Ozzies, pjv, and Ashraf, what they're called, eh.
