Thanks! I'm more of a wasp/bee/beetle shooter (though I couldn't name any species or genus if my life depended on it) and don't get to our local pondsas much as I'd like, so I don't have much experience with these creatures. More avenues toexplore! Now that I've got my Tamron 72B for longer 1:1 reach, I'll be all set. Should be interesting to see what it will do when combined with Raynox 250 or Vivitar 2X Macro TC.
One thing about photographing insects = you're unlikely to run out of new subjects. One bad thing = an awful lot of insects, especially a lot of beetles, are black so it's difficult to get lighting that will catch the details of their structure.

Tiger/yellow swallowtail, one of the easiest insects to photograph in my area. And two bees.

Another one from the summer with a different lens, Helios 44-2 f2 58mm. (note I forgot to change my lens size in camera; it’s a hobby)

One of my favs from the spring. Pentax-M 50mm macro with close up filter. The butterfly drank water from the crevices in my driveway and I literally was on top on it.

It’s not the best but I’ve never seen a bumblebee’s tongue before. Photography is my hobby so my shots aren’t perfect.

I kinda fell in love with insects this year.

It’s a good thing I’m not allergic to bees.

Thank you! - I like the final blue segment myself

Have you got the hang of leaning in or out to get focus? - many of us find it easier than focusing the lens once you close to finding your focus, even with auto-focus. I have the Super-Multi-Coated Macro-Takumar 50mm, and think it is the same optical formula. Very nice lenses.
