It’s not the best but I’ve never seen a bumblebee’s tongue before. Photography is my hobby so my shots aren’t perfect.
Yes, the combination of mandibles and tongue is quite interesting. Wait 'til you get a look at ant mouth anatomy!
My first macro lens was an SMC Macro Takumar 50mm f4, which I think has the same optical formula as yours. Looks like you're enjoying it.

They are bewitching in their intricacy and diversity. They are a wonderful subject. Welcome to the hive/nest/colony/swarm!

Another one from the summer with a different lens, Helios 44-2 f2 58mm. (note I forgot to change my lens size in camera; it’s a hobby)
Great in flight shot! No need to apologize, I often forget to change the lens ID when I'm going back and forth.

Mealybug Ladybird larva, taken with Ricoh WG-6. At first I thought this was a mealybug, or woolly aphid, but on looking it up I found it actually mimics these garden pests so it can blend in and prey on them. It is a bit of an eastern Australian specialty, has apparently been exported world wide, and is now naturalised in places such as California and the Mediterranean;

Goliath Stick Insect (Eurycnema goliath, order Phasmatidea) on roadside shrub - overall length greater than 12" (30cm)
So big I saw it as I rode my bike beside the shrub and had to stop and go back.

That is one cool insect, about as big as they get at least for length. Some beetles are more massive. Years back, as the weather turned colder in Autumn, I'd find the much smaller local walking sticks crawling on the foundation of our house. I suspected there was some measure of warmth they detected. However, it's probably been 12~15 years since the last time I saw one of these intriguing insects. It worries me. It should worry everyone.

Indeed. This locality is lucky to be very isolated in tropical North Queensland.
There is very little agriculture, so no wholesale pesticide use or residual build up in the rivers.

Great spotting! And an equally great image! Amazing looking beast - very envious of you seeing such an insect live.

Yeah, was very excited to see it. In the wet season all sorts of insects get flushed out by the rain. In the Butterflies and Moth thread I have shared pics of the Hercules Moth that also came out of the tropical rain forest. It runs to the same size - about 30cm across.
You will have to come up for a visit.

After butterflies, probably the most popular insect to photograph.
