Great colour composition, although I would have preferred more of the flower in focus myself.
Thanks, arnold. Yeah, that's the tradeoff with the 50/1.7 - wide-open: better OOF areas, less subject in focus. That shot is about 3 yrs old, when I was still in a state of shock over the IQ of my then-new M50/1.7

Pete: well done!

What Photoshop? Never had it, don't want it.

When I need something more, Gimp does quite well and about 75 bucks cheaper...Usually I use Irfan View for 90% of my editing, which is usually just crop and resize. The occasional shot needs a bit of contrast and brightness adjustment when I miss the exposure, that's about it. No need for Photoshop, Gimp does the watermark quite nicely and any other editing I have to do that Irfan View won't handle. Seems to do a nice job when sharpening is needed too, which is not often..If it's not sharp to begin with it's deleted...

A couple more for now, should have others ready in a day or three...I'm trying to get some shots of ducks on the lake, getting familiar with a "new" Vivitar 200mm, but nothing really good yet. Also should be getting some decent macros, flowers and insects out everywhere...

Nice to see pictures with minimal affectations. Shows you got the basics right the first time.

Thanks guys, a couple more taken in the past few days.

That last one is also posted in POTW. I was tempted to sharpen all of them but decided to let it be...

I haven't posted here before, but I've read some of the discussion about whether or not a photo is better if altered. I don't know if it matters, because there are lots of threads to post those that are.

Trying out my new 60-250.

Unusual colours, but interesting shot. The buildings almost look like film sprocket holes the way they frame the photo..

Was this with the "cloudy" white balance? Other in-camera tricks to share to get this particular colour?

Also, interesting framing. I also thought of film stock tractor feed holes for a second, like Arnold did.

Regards,
--Anders.

I took this closeup of a bald eagle kept at Mountsberg Conservation Park near Mississauga, Ontario using Pentax K-5 IIs with Pentax DA* 300mm lens. You can see my reflection in its eye. It is only my first month of using the lens.

Yes, the white balance on the earlier shot was on "cloudy".

Here's one from the BC Classic and Custom Car Show last weekend.
