I don't have a photo to post, but have a question. I would like to get an ND filter -- but which of these lenses would you suggest I buy the ND filter for?

DA 40mm limited
Sigma 10-20
Kit lens 18-55

Which lens would you choose if you could only get one ND filter? Thanks!

I would choose the one that you use the most and aren't planning on selling soon. But...

DA40

reasons - you probably don't use the kit lens much and 49mm filters are much cheaper than 77mm filters. I've put together a very good 49mm set (and a couple 52's). And if I get some good zooms (not in the near future) I'll start a square filter set. You could go with square filters first (fit all lenses) but I like the portability of small round filters.

Cokin P system, or similar, (or Z if you want to go all the way down to 10mm) is the way forward IMHO.

If you are getting an ND filter - do NOT go with Cokin. Only my opinion but they have a horrible cast in long exposures. Their grads are a lot better, although I still prefer the Hitech ones - in Cokins mount. Of those two lenses I would go with the 10-20 first. More variety of shot. If cost is a factor then the 49mm thread 40mm will be cheaper. I have the B&W 110 filters for 77mm, 67mm and 49mm. I use the 49mm one a surprising amount of the time. I use it a fair bit on the little DA15 though which is bang in the middle of the 10-20's range..

Love looking at these shots - saw some awesome ND 10 (400) shots and that was it - hooked ! I've just bought some cheapish Tian-Ya ND10 square to see if I like it - if I do then I've already got my basket at B&H filled with Hoya 400 etc. !

Now that I've got a wide enough lens (DA 10-17) I'll try fit my filters on it (@17mm) and see if I can get some nice cloud effects.. but in the meantime, here are a few waterfall/stream shots from this summer.
