Love looking at these shots - saw some awesome ND 10 (400) shots and that was it - hooked ! I've just bought some cheapish Tian-Ya ND10 square to see if I like it - if I do then I've already got my basket at B&H filled with Hoya 400 etc. !
Note a Hoya NDX400 is a 8.6 stop filter advertised as a 9 stop if we believe their filter factor is accurate. A 10 stop ND would have a filter factor of 1024 (or NDX1024)

The shots on this thread are great. Love the work people have submitted.

I've posted this before but I re-edited it to crop it from the square format it was shot at.

NDX8 + Pentax O2 orange filters.

Ooh, fantastic work you guys!
I hadn't noticed this thread before. I'm still kind of new to this but here are a few with my da15 and B+W ND 3.0 (10 stop). (X-posted from other threads)

Long Beach ND

I took this earlier this year at Long Beach BC with my K7 and DA* 16-50.

Does it count because I ran it through some PP software?

A little different than all the amazing land and city scapes in here...

K-5. 8sec. Singh-ray Vari-ND, about 6 stops I think. On a rig.

Not as sharp as most of my other rig-shots, but I still like it.

Thanks!

I am really loving your long exp b&w shots. What time of day do you normally go out? Your buildings are super crisp... almost 3D. I am asking because there is a local photo contest coming up and I want to submit a shot of a newly completed building. Trying to get some ideas.

Really cool shot. Surprisingly sharp for 8 seconds if both you and the car are moving.

NDX400 + Pentax Y2 Yellow Filter
Nothing too spectacular about the long exposure except maybe some people walked right through the scene and didn't get recorded.

This may be a dumb questions but how do you get the car so sharp without any type of motion blur in an 8 second exposure?

Not a dumb question.

The camera is on a 16 foot boom that is attached to the car. Normally we shut the engine off and push the car so there are no vibrations, but in this shot the engine was on (thats why is isn't as sharp as it would normally be). I think the longest exposure I have done with these is around 12 sec. Some guys get into the 20s.

Example of my old rig (I have a new setup now) before I removed it in pshop:

And the final:

And the most recent rig shot I did (posted in autos too):

I thought maybe you were in another car at matched speed. Is that harm held on with suction cups? Do you get nervous with your camera hanging out there
