Wish everyone a happy, healthy & wealthy New Year, wealthy in photos that is...

Thanks Jabobby! It's been wildly cold here, we've been running the heat lamp in the coop to keep it warm enough in there. Took this photo last night with the full moon light, happy new year!

I love taking photos of this grain site near me. Nearly froze my hand off taking it.

WARNING--farm pun ahead:

That place is obviously run by a bunch of has-bins.

bobbotron, both those photos are very good but I especially love the first one, really like the color on the snow from the heat lamp & the entire composition. Gotta keep those chickens happy...
goatsNdonkey, I got a good chuckle out of that.
Best Regards, Bob

Enjoying those images @bobbotron. Very different conditions here - farmers cutting and baling hay. K-S2 + (my new) DA 20-40 Ltd.

There are gently rolling parts of Illinois and Iowa that look exactly like that...in summer there, of course.

Except for the mountains along the horizon in the first image.

Didn't you know that the original Pike's Peak is in eastern Iowa?

Besides, we get mountainous-looking storm clouds on the horizon that would tower over those mountains. I didn't even notice them behind those friendly rolling hills.

And the sea - it's Corner Inlet and Wilson's Promontory in the background, and Bass Strait (dividing Tasmania and mainland Australia) beyond. But yes I have heard comparisons between the rolling hills of Gippsland and western Victoria and the mid-West of the USA.

And it snowed here once, in 2005!

In my immediate area, most of our slopes are wooded ravines with creeks in them, so I can't just walk out of the house and take a similar picture. I can offer some snow. This was never deep, but after two days of thaw it is still there. The fog never entirely lifted today either.

Corn stubble field between our house and the one to the north.

And I see they have made it into a State Park. We have things in MO that they call "mountains" also.

In Britain the dividing line between a hill and a mountain is 1000' (just over 300m). So 1772' is a mountain by British standards - even though people in Colorado or Alaska might not think so.

The Ozarks are REAL mountains. They've just been through a lot more, for a lot longer, than those Rocky young upstarts. Taum Sauk looks like a interesting place. I've been to a few Missouri parks, but not that one.

Iowa's Pikes Peak, a high bluff over the upper Mississippi, is a remarkable place, but the best views aren't looking up at it, but looking down from its height at the braided streams and almost countless small islands between the two main channels of the big river near its confluence with the Wisconsin River.
