There are certainly some fruits & veges that are way better fresh. Locally, the strawberries are at their prime, and a treat as-is or in shortcake. Local asparagus has gone by, but when available fresh asparagus from Hadley is wonderful. Eventually the sweet corn will be available and that is my favorite. Sweet, crisp corn-on-the-cob eaten the same day it was picked - super delicious. Corn-on-the-cob is one vege that just does not freeze and remain acceptable, although frozen niblets and shoepeg corn are OK. The thing M & I love about "modern" food processing is irradiation (I think) that gives us fresh raspberries from South America in the depths of Winter. Notoriously fragile fruit, deteriorates quickly after picking and turns to mush when frozen. Yet we can get nice, crisp raspberries in January. SUPER

Old but important, I use this old packer after every planting, except for corn & potatoes of course...
Would like to clean it up a bit & paint it but not sure what color, green, red or gray or what

Best Regards, Bob

I had an 8-foot, single roller model, at one time. Used it after I seeded down the old row crop fields here (totaling about 8 acres) with pasture seed. It sat then for about twenty-some years, until I sold it to somebody who wanted to restore it. Not a McCormack, though Like that one, it had a rack above the rollers, just the right size to put some concrete blocks...if one felt the need to give it extra weight.

I thought I'd share a picture of my new hay fetching truck. No more do I have to worry about rain blowing up when I'm on the way home from one of my longer hay-buying trips. No more do I have to worry about the load shifting or a bale blowing off if it gets gusty. I got 40 bales on it Monday, with room to spare. As big as the truck is in capacity, it's almost a foot shorter than the F250 I'll be selling!

Pano-by-cropping of the equipment parked outdoors at the town farm. Residents can by some means rent or otherwise make use of small plots. Mostly mixed veges and flowers are grown.
