I watched this titanic battle for about 5 minutes (from a respectful distance

). They were still going hard at one another when I left. All that power and muscle was an awesome sight and somehow the rain made it even more dramatic.

K-S2 + DA 55-300 PLM at 300mm (showing the value of this lightweight, go-everywhere, WR combination).

In cropping the shots I left some foreground turf, for a more "ringside" look, and to underscore the earthy quality of the contest.

R.I.P -- The old grain elevator at the south end of Ipava, Illinois, has died.

I drove past where it used to be yesterday afternoon, and there was just some rubble behind the Quonset hut where it used to stand. We had some extremely gusty days in the past 2 or 3 weeks, though I suppose owners of the land might have decided to tear it down. Sad.

Here is my picture of it, taken 2 or 3 years ago on size 120 Ilford XP2 with my Koni-Omega Rapid M with Hexanon 90mm normal lens (has been posted earlier here on PF):
