Bovine panorama.

V-A-V raising crops. We went to dog agility trials at an indoor sports facility. It was a huge dome held up by internal air pressure. HUGE inside, large enough for football (=soccer) or to have four basketball games going simultaneously. The entire thing was rebuilt several years ago when the original fabric of the dome was starting to deteriorate. Perhaps because of financial strain during the pandemic year (=no rental income from by sports teams or agility trials or several other clients who might want such a huge interior space) the complex was sold and will no longer be used for either human or animal sports. It will be used for agriculture, to raise a crop under climate-controlled conditions = marijuana. Might this be called "a sign of the time?"

Rouge Valley

Rouge Valley is a place forgotten by time. Only small farms here. Some owners are getting old and some farms don't look quite as active as they used to be. The Rouge river left lots of sand deposits in between two laurentians rocky outcrops so farms are isolated from the more dynamic laurentians lowlands further east. I took the picture from the ground of a buddhist temple, hence the statues in the front.

On my way home from work a couple days ago, I drove by a field where corn was being harvested. Glad I had my camera and tripod with, and thought to turn around.

Pastoral scene over the lower Tarwin Valley in South Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. Bald Hills Wind Farm, Venus Bay and (top right) Anderson's Inlet (the mouth of the Tarwin River) are in the background. The sheep are Dorpers - in the past Merino crosses have been the main breed here. KP + DA 55-300 PLM

Ancient Hedge, South Wales

Does agricultural archaeology count here?

This was once a field hedge, laid the traditional way maybe 50 or more years ago, and now grown into distorted trees. Ahead was a farm track and to the right of the "hedge" was a field that my previous nearest neighbour (RIP) used to plough as a young man.

Now it is irrelevant, with forest grown up all around.

Row after row of young corn plants. Fatally sensitive to frost, so generally corn is not planted here until after frost-free date, about May 20. These must have been started earlier. BTW a trail we walk skirts the edge of these fields.
