Challenge 56

Thanks to Baro-nite for last weeks in-the-air challenge. Here is another in-the-air image I thought might be interesting. This is an air ambulance taking an injured person from Algonquin Park to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto.

***

There was a pack of 21 Harley Davidson's cruising through the park when an oncoming car crossed the centre line on a sharp bend and hit the guard rail on the other side of the road. The motorcyclists were coming the other way. The front 11 defensively "laid down" their bikes sideways (going probably 80 km. per hour). The last ten managed to avoid the human and motor debri that was by now flying everywhere. Only one person was seriously hurt, the person in the air ambulance, and others with minor injuries were taken by ambulance to a hospital.

Everyone recovered. It was interesting to later drive by the accident scene and see the police chalk where it traced all the bikes, people and their trajectories. Anyway, no gruesome photos, just the air ambulance rushing to save a life.

***

Competition closes Sunday night. I will announce a winner Monday December 19th. Enjoy!!!!!!

I thought this might work well in B/W thanks to the interesting shapes (circular rotor, pylons). Here's my attempt:

Ooh, nice miniaturization effect with the defocused background! I went for gritty:

Used my Nik-plug ins for this one. Tess there were some dust spots hiding in the sky. You might want to clean your sensor

Not a very easy background replacement. Well done Ash.

I decided to play with Topaz Adjust and push the details and grain more than I might normally to give the image a little punch.

Thanks Tim. These challenges do make me try something different and have fun with PP - my less favourite part of photography.
