In a case of the truly bizarre...

I just recently had two photos in Explore on the same day. They're adjacent in my photostream and were taken 25 minutes apart.

Both
Pentax K-5
S-M-C Takumar 105/2.8

I have no idea how either of them got picked up....much less two next-door neighbors like that.

All fantastic shots on this page. The old man taking a picture is a superb shot, as is the bird photo.

I agree - the bird is surreal! Those shots of Mike's in the snow are remarkable to.

I did some "wow"s upon several on this page. I'm actually sitting here torn about which ones to focus my comments on...

My second Explore. Seems like the Single in... Challenge is a fertile ground.

Like that first one in post #32 Mike.

They seem to change the algorithm from time to time. I had a fair few go in for a while and then they just stopped. After that it was strange. None would go in and then every six weeks or so 6 or 7 would go in on consecutive days. Nowadays none go in no matter how many views, comments or faves they get. I don't tend to put them in many groups apart from a couple I contribute to. This one got to No 1 and has had the most views of pictures still on my account. (I deleted quite a few I wasn't that happy with).

I have been participating in Single in Challenges here on the forum on and off for over a year and this month I am posting my entries exclusively to flickr rather than building an album on the forum. It has boosted my comments and so far in April I have had my first two Explored shots. I am actually very pleased with both shots. I'm using the 10-17 fish-eye which seems to be providing a needed boost to my own personal inspiration for photography which had been hitting a rut lately.

Congrats on explore. As far as flickr goes, I tend to post up what I feel are my best pictures their as it really does become a portfolio. The beauty is that the pictures and comments are easy to find and remain visible. With forums, a picture quickly gets lost and you never really know if it was truly good or not. With flickr you learn pretty quickly. I have deleted about 70% of my flickr pictures that I thought where pretty good and still cleaning it up. With flickr, if someone leaves a comment, that is usually a pretty good sign . When you get people viewing your picture and there are no comments or saved favs, then that is a good indicator that the picture was not very good. As you develop your stream you will begin to pick up followers of your work. ..Be selective of the groups you post in and avoid the groups where mandatory trophies or comments are required as those are usually fools gold and mean nothing. When I leave comments on Flickr, it is because I truly liked the picture or a certain quality of the picture. With street photography it is all subjective anyway. No one can ever agree on what is good or bad
