It's winter here in Sydney, so a lot of my pics on the way home from work are taken when its dark from 5pm onwards. This is one of the "Dark" ones that got explored today.

Glowing Crucible

Pentax K-3, LZOS MC Jupiter-9 85/2

What surprised me about this photo is how little PP was required. It was taken with my Soviet-made Jupiter-9 85/2. That lens shows unique color rendering at times that can be quite striking.

This one was selected on the Explore page few hours ago...
Now at rank #40 and 46K views! The highest rank/views of all time for my photos!
:-)

Found this fly hanging under an American Elm leave.

The insect has died in that position after it has been infected with entomopageous fungus that introduced the insect body.
We can see part of the mycelium going out of the abdomen. Sometimes, the fungus covers the entire body of the insect.

Mouche tuée par un champignon / Fly Death by Fungus [Entomophthora muscae] (Prbl. ID?)

Excellent shot, and congrats at a wicked position and view count! I'm sure the context and information surrounding the shot may have helped, I found it interesting reading

Thanks... Yes I try to add information on the scenes I share... it is my "teatcher" side... ;-)
BTW, I just noticed that I now got 78K views... really incredible! I do not understand why so many...

very nice pics - especially the top one - it's another of Explore's foibles that it sometimes explores multiple shots taken seconds apart, then nothing for ages sometimes - but we take what we get and are grateful for the exposure

I seem to have got stuck in a holding pattern for the last year or so of one explore at the beginning of each second or third month, entering somewhere in the 300s - no exception this month

This one got explored a while ago. A blind couple in Havana. The guy stepping in from the left was just about to give them some money.
