Had one sneak into Explore on me without my realizing it for a few days. Saw it had an abnormal amount of Likes and went hmmmm...

This is only the second of my photos to ever get into Explore and is now far-and-away my shot with the most favourites on the site, despite being quite ordinary. My other shot that got into Explore was also very hum-drum. I think the way that I load photos and add info to them is not conducive to them being picked for Explore but I don't care at all. It's nice to get a bit of love, but I have far, far better shots in my account than this.

It was taken with the K3 and Auto Revuenon 50mm f/1.4 at f/2.8. It's a photo of flowers growing on the outer wall of the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain.

I had one in today briefly. I wondered why my phone kept going off this morning. I figured it was election stuff so I ignored it. Eventually I took a look to see what was going and noticed it was my Flickr account. In the 10+ years I have been on Flickr I've never had a photo get more than a hundred views let alone over 2000 and over 100 favorites. Extremely odd for me, especially for a shot taken on a whim at the last minute on my way home.

Love those blues - congratulations, not surprised it was Explored.

The photo below, taken recently at Westonbirt Arboretum, near Tetbury, England with a K-3/Tamron 17-50mm was a bit of a pp challenge. It looked OK (e.g. quite natural) on my pc before up-loading, but was almost too vibrant on the high resolution family Mac, and then too dull on an old work pc! Anyway, it must have looked OK to others because it smashed my previous best on Flickr.

That's an awesome photo, and an extraordinary number of likes on Flickr!

I got one in myself today, it won't be that popular!

Thank you, those are beautiful colours. The detail is amazing.

Hard to call a 30s exposure something taken "on a whim"...! A well-deserved Explore and hopefully the first of many more.

I also had an unexpected Explore surprise this morning. You put stuff up that you think is killer good... and nothing happens. Then you put up the one decent shot from a not so successful outing... and bam.

I have to agree; when you post what you think is an amazing shot, nothing - then, what I call a 'snapshot' gets picked for explore....

but every once in a while, a shot that you may really like or think has a special quality to it, gets nailed...

This one got caught up in one of Explored's theme days - moon images on this occasion. This was the day before the 'super moon' as the forecast was for cloudy skies on the next day. I never see the point of shooting a big moon in isolation as size in the frame depends so much anyway on the focal length on the lens, the crop factor of the sensor, and the post crop you give the image. I exploited all of that here with a (FA*) 400mm f/5.6 on the APS-C K-3, then cropped the resulting image.

A 5.30am Singles In shot stitched together in lightroom managed to snag me an Explore last week.
