Images in the Pentax Forums "Single In ..." group often make Explore; that group seems to have the right combination of speedy comments and faves.
I don't know that there is a connection, but there seems to be a pretty steady trend of "Explores". Join us, it's a good group of friendly Pentaxians who are much betterthan I am about faving and comments

Another explore thanks to Single In,

Its always nice to get the extra exposure but in this case I am very pleased as its a picture I am actually proud of, which is not always the case with explore.

Yeh this a nice pic indeed, the pointing of the figure also adds a nice aspect to it rather than arms by the side.

Strange. Just got in an Explore while the image had less than 150 views, less than 10 faves, no comments at all, in no groups or albums, no tags...

And of course, even if I think the image is ok I'm not sure my experimental editing was all too successful

Not surprising to me: supposedly groups don't help, possibly the reverse; tags help only in that you are more visible in search; better no comments at all than too many. If you got those views and faves quickly that is enough.

I've noticed that sometimes David Kract (a flickr admin I believe) adds a pic of mine to a group called 'in explore' which states that;

"Photos are added to the group pool by users accepting the ADMIN INVITATIONS ONLY. You cannot add images directly to the group pool yourself. Your image must have been in Flickr's Explore to get an Admin invite."

So currently this pic of mine is in the group;

However, I've had a good look in Explore and haven't seen it featured there, and also another thing is my views and favs are very low for this pic, usually when I get a submission into Explore its very obvious, the email notifications start pouring in from people I don't know.

EDIT: Found it, so I guess this is just one of those Flickr Explore entries that have had no traction at all. That's a first for me, didn't know that could happen.

Then this one doesn't make much sense, either... Not that many views, nor faves, then after a day and a half I did something I don't usually do - I added the picture to 10 or so groups. Then maybe 8 hours later it got into Explore.

But hey, it's all good fun

OK, according to The Science Behind Explore | in explore | Flickr adding groups within the first 24 hours might have a different effect than doing so later.
