This one was on Explore for a little while apparently (Explored on 2019.01.30, #455), but now has fallen in the dropped class...
Pentax K-1 with Irix 15mm ƒ/2.4 Blackstone (1/640s), F11, ISO100

Grands froids au Québec / Quebec's cold weather (comparaison d'objectifs / Lens comparison)

An it's part of an experiment I did to compare the sunburst effects with 2 different FF primes (see details x-posted below)

This arctic winter scene has been captured with the Pentax K-1, using two different lenses at 2 minutes interval (Note: Both were at ƒ/11 and ISO 100, only the shutter speed is different).

One lens has a 43mm focal lenght, and can be considered as a "real-life size view", and the other is a 15mm wide-angle lens.
The photo taken with the 15mm has been heavily cropped to match approximatively the other photo (slight) cropping, but the final resolution is signicantly affected, e.g. the 43mm has seven times more pixels than the one taken with the wide-angle lens.
Also note the different "starburst" effect, that is dependent of the number and the roundness of aperture blades.

The other shot below wasn't selected in Explore (one per day is okay anyway :-) )
SMC Pentax-FA 43mm F1.9 Limited (1/2500s)

I like this, can see why Explore picked it up, will definitely get that 'interestingness' algorithm going for sure!

Which version do you like more? I have to say I quite like both and am not seeing a clear winner for the sun star burst effect of one over the other?

I'd say I better like the starbust effect when it creates tips in the sun / light rays (like the 15LTD does), so I prefer the FA43 in this case...

Other than that, I was very surprised about the sharpness, resolution and distortion of the Irix 15mm... Since it got cropped a lot to get the same scene.

Sunset in a bathtub (probably used as a water source for animals).

Funny! I just discovered this thread this morning - and a few hours later I find one of my shots is in today's Explore. Here it is:

Another recent pick by Flickr's magic donkey, down in the 400s somewhere, which is where most of mine end up:

Thank you, Bruce... outside the aperture failure (which I DYI fixed) and 800+ ISO grain, the K-50's performance is not too shabby... I see myself upgrading overtime but nothing imminent. I'd also keep it as a permanent M42 D-body.
