Do you (or anyone else here) save your really nice shots for a few days if you just saw you hit explore today? In other words - you hit explore today... you go out shooting and get a frameable shot, really memorable... do you hold on from putting it in flickr since you may want to give it a shot at it being explore'd?
all my shots go to flickr - while getting 'explored' is fun and seemingly-unpredictable, it isn't why I shoot daily...

All my shots (non-family members) go there as well; actually I do not have a single contact in Flickr that I personally know - e.g. no family or "real-life" friends.

I do not shoot for Explore, but sometimes, I see some shots I'm proud of much more than others and I just want to give those a shot

Many of my shots go on Flickr for Single In, Daily In and other posting to PF About once a quarter, I cull the shots that were low performing in terms of comments, or those that are part of a repetitive theme. For example, I live near the mountains, and though they provide something new to view on a daily basis for Single In, etc. I don't want my Flickr page to be 30 shots of mountains.
I keep the Explores, and usually view the pages of the most recent faves or comments. I've seen some great photography and interesting subjects by doing so.
I'm always pleasantly surprised to see what hits Explore. I don't question how, or try to improve my odds, I just try to put up good shots.
This morning A recent image hit Explore, nice surprise to begin the day.Crown Jewel

My last few Explores have been with non-Pentax gear, but visiting family in friends in the UK I shot this on the Pentax-F 17-28mm Fisheye zoom on the K-1

Just realized that this one I posted a couple days ago went on Explore...

Observatoire populaire du Mont-Mégantic sous la Voie Lactée / Popular Observatory of Mont-Mégantic under the Milky Way (x-posted in the Irix Lens Club thread)

Parc National du Mont-Mégantic, Québec, CANADA

2019.08.29

During an activity called "Popular Observatory Evening" proposed by the ASTROLab at Mont-Megantic, I rather choose to stay a bit apart and willing to capture the starfield and Milky Way on top of this magnificent mountain. Unfortunately, after a last-minute tripod change, I forgot to bring the appropriate quick release plate to fix the camera on that tripod head (damn!).

However, with the gear accessories I had on hand, like a couple of spring clips and an L-bracket, I was able to just stabilize my gear enough, I'd say in an hazardous way, in order to make those long exposure shots (30s and more @ ƒ/2.8 and ISO 1600 to 2500) in order to get quite nice shots of the Milky Way and surrounding starscapes.

Pentax K-1 (in bulb mode with ASTROTRACER enabled and calibrated) + Irix 15mm ƒ/2.4 Blackstone Lens

(Single frame)

30s @ ƒ/2.8 and ISO 2500

This one was in explore but taken out again:

Probably because of the dust spots I didn't bother to clean
