Shunkawauken Falls, North Carolina, a very tall waterfall that we visited a couple of days ago. The road on the side of the mountain splits the falls, you more or less drive over it, but I missed it the first time through, to busy watching the road. We were in cloud while we were there, the top of the falls was not viisible, here is a view up, and down to the lower part.

Had never heard of this one, nor have I spent any time in this out-of-the-way part of the state, other than to drive through once or twice. May have to change that on our trip to the mountains next month.

Down in a limestone cave, Kentucky. As I recall, this cave was privately owned.

A little side trip on our way to visit my son in Tennessee. I would like to spend a lot more time in that area as there are hundreds of waterfalls. We saw four waterfalls that were close to the route and easy to get to, This particular falls does not have any real place to view it, there was a tiny parking spot close by, I had to shoot up from the road, the other side had a couple feet of grass before it dropped off. I would not recommend going to this falls in bad weather, the day we went it was a little drizzle and fog, clouds once were were up there. The road just has many really tight switchbacks and a few places that part of one lane was collapsed, but otherwise good pavement.

Iíd highly recommend SoCo falls, I could have spent a lot more time there, Pearsonís Falls was decent also, Looking Glass Falls was nothing special.

More than decent, I'd say! Looks like you caught that one at just the right flow and in good overcast light.

Looking Glass Falls can be good in the right conditions, but is usually so crowded it's hardly worth stopping for.
