First picture in Iceland - Gulufoss

Remember Walter Mitty's longboard downhill ride? It's the fall next to the road, indeed just 5min from the ferry. No active volcano nearby though

Grey as concrete

Carrying a lot of silt, Dettifoss looked like somebody just rinsed a giant concrete mixer. Just a few miles down, all that mighty thundering water squeezes through a narrow gorge.

You had a wonderful blue sky at this waterfall. We had North Atlantic low dense overcast.

A good runoff, too. We had our share of clouds a few days later - above, below and around us.

We wound up engulfed by clouds, with wind blowing it into our faces, when we stopped at what is billed as the easternmost point of Europe, which is the easternmost tip of the island, cliffs with dangerous drop-offs to the sea that were filled with nesting birds, some of which we had not and did not see elsewhere (razorbills)

Westernmost? Iceland may indeed be east, west, south and north of Greenland, but it is definitely not the easternmost part of Europe.

Shunkawauken Falls, North Carolina, a very tall waterfall that we visited a couple of days ago. The road on the side of the mountain splits the falls, you more or less drive over it, but I missed it the first time through, to busy watching the road. We were in cloud while we were there, the top of the falls was not viisible, here is a view up, and down to the lower part.

My goodness, the light with the cloud in the first image is gorgeous!

Another Icelandic waterfall. It has a name that I don't remember. Icelanders on pretty much everything. You see water tumbling down a slope, sometimes steep like a falls, sometimes just rapids. Icelanders see ten water features that need a name.

This for sure looks name-worthy - and shows that you definitely had nice weather too! Nothing I would remember to single it out, though.

Thank you. I am fortunate as it is only about 40 min drive away, so can access it quite easily. And as the weather here is somewhat changeable the falls have a different characteristic each time one goes.

Soco Falls, Maggie Valley, NC. Due to time restraints I was only able to spend about 10-15 minutes here, did not get to climb down the the bottom. The first shot is the stream above the left side of the falls.

A much smaller, and nameless, waterfall (if you can call it that) in the same part of the world:
