Information about waterfalls in the Pacific NW (posted in a new thread but certainly pertains to this thread).
I used that site/index quite frequently. Great detail and information, not to mentioned excellent photographs.

Beautiful! Where is Smuggler's Cove? My wife and I are planning an Oregon trip for this September - would love to see that in person. I will gladly take any other location tips you might have for the OR coast too. Thanks in advance.

Smuggler Cove in in Oswald West State Park, just south of Cannon Beach [about due west of Portland]. North of Cannon Beach is Ecola State Park - worth a visit. Another favorite spot of mine is the north end of Depoe Bay, which is south Of Oswald West about 40 miles. Near the CA border is Bandon, with great rocks in the water. You can see some of these spots in my photos here: civiletti's photosets on Flickr

Thanks for the kind word.

Nice one Tom. Your shot reminds me of this old photo from 2002 - my wife posing at Turner Falls Park in Oklahoma. Taken with a one megapixel HP C20 camera (which still works!)

Off Hwy. 30 in Oregon

My wife and I drove east on Hwy. 30 (Oregon side in the Columbia River Gorge) and stopped at a couple of waterfalls. We wanted to do more but I think everyone had the same idea we did... it was pretty busy between the Vista House and Multnomah Falls. We're lucky to live within 30 mins. of this stuff.

The two tiered water fall is Bridal Veil Falls, the other is Latourell Falls.

Columbia Gorge is an amazing place for waterfalls. Southwestern NC is pretty good too, if not quite as dramatic. Except during high flows, as we're having right now due to the weather system that just will not budge from the southeastern US.

I couldn't get the classic shot of Rainbow Falls (Horsepasture River, Nantahala National Forest) because of the soaking spray, but here's a peek at the top:

And the classic view of Whitewater Falls:

We are very lucky to live withing earshot of such a gorgeous area. I suggest Fairy Falls if you haven't been.....it's up the Wakeena Falls trail. Cascading waterfalls with numerous steps, very picturesque.
