Stream north near the Canadian border in New England. possibly the Connecticut River.

I can see it now, but looks more like a fire breathing dragon in his hand.

This stream also looks as if it's moving slowly, but it's actually flowing briskly, The depth keeps the surface far from the bed, so it's perfectly smooth. The bridge supports held up a classic New England covered bridge that was both old and unusually long. A great deal of fund-raising and enthusiasm went into restoring the bridge, and in less than a year after completing that project, an exceptionally violent wind storm ripped it to shreds.
