Normally this stream would be very dark, but recent heavy rain caused vigorous flow that swept the stream bed clean of dirt, leaves and other plant debris exposing the pale gravel and boulders to view.

We've had our share of moving water around here, esp. after receiving 10" of rain over the past week. This photo was taken earlier in September, and was only a preview of what was coming. This creek is usually slow, lazy and shallow. This photo would not have been possible last weekend, as the bridge I was shooting from was under water!

During the week of Sept 22, we received a record amount of rainfall - over 10 inches! This caused quite a bit of flooding at nearby Bear Creek, with the levels reaching over 12 feet. Taken with a Canon p&s:
