Spillway of a recently restored, repaired, refurbished dam. There was a prolonged debate over whether the old dam should be removed completely or rebuilt. Thank goodness the preservationists won out over the "wild river" advocates (spearheaded by trout fishing enthusiasts). Extensive areas of marshy habitat upstream would have been drained and destroyed without this dam, with loss of major riparian and lacustrine habitat and the diversity of life such environments support. The old dam might not have survived several high discharge events during 2018.

A man-made "waterfall" that is very famous. I'll be some Pentaxians can recognize and name the fountain.

Crabtree Falls, Virginia. [IMG][/IMG] Thankfully I had an overcast day, and was in shadows, so I could get some long exposures without risking overexposure [IMG][/IMG]

Modest surf rolling in off the Atlantic. There's almost always some water movement along the shore.

I miss the New England coast, and it's stormy seas. Hopefully I will get up there in the spring.(or the fall, but not during tourist season in the summer)

Cascade in Iceland. Skinny falls and cascades such as this are all over the island. I was glad for one small building to provide scale.

Woodland streams. The one in the second image flows only after heavy rains, and quits rapidly as in the posted image.

I know this isn't I Spy, but here is a similar woodland stream. Usually this time of year this would be pretty dry (and then also in August), but we are having a wet winter.

A little stream in the woods that, because of the steep slope, comes close to being a waterfall. This is a spot we sometimes target on a walk. Slightly out of the way, out and back rather than along a loop mostly because beyond the trail eventually runs right atop a small ephemeral stream, hemmed in on both sides by brambles. When there's this much water, it's awkward to impossible to keep your feet dry without over-ankle waterproof footwear.
