Sketchy was the right word, for that bridge. At least there was a guide rope to provide a sense of balance. Such a pity you ran out of time on that visit.
But, we had been on Iceland for weeks,. Drove ourselves all around the loop road, went out on a whale watch, spent a magical few days on Flatey, an island where you can really feel that the woes of the world don't know where you are, AND we had seen and photographed many, many waterfalls. With melting glaciers all summer long, there's always a lot of water draining off of Iceland. End of the last day, we were tired, there was the sketchy bridge, it was just a few kilometers too far and and extra 90 minutes too long for us. Maybe next time. HA!

River Coln, Slaithwaite (pronounced Slauwit - yes they mangle English in these parts!), West Yorkshire.

Might I suggest that the problem is in the spelling rather than the pronunciation?

I did consider this, but to add so many superfluous vowels and consonants is also quite bizarre!

It is to catch out the slow-witted strangers, I presume

It would certainly not qualify for a "Still Waters" thread!
