Post Processing Challenge 66

First I want to thank newmikey for selecting my photo from last weeks creative contenders. I am very honoured to host this weeks challenge. I am going to submit something a bit different. This is my grandfather's workshop. He passed away two weeks ago at the ripe old age of 93, he was a WW2 Vet (drove a tank in Italy for 4 years, lost an eye to shrapnel), and was happily married to my grandmother for 74 years on Valentines Day (she is still living!). His memorial is in three weeks and I would love to include a version of this image in the slide show.

So, anything goes of course! My post processing program does not do layers so I can't superimpose or add layers like many of you can... (just in case someone wanted to add an apparition in some creative way... (just a suggestion!)

contest closes Sunday night March 18.....

Here is his workshop:

Tess,

My condolences to you and your family. Not quite an apparition but I hope you like it.

Tim

Tessfully,

Your grandfather's story touched me, I especially loved hearing about the near 75-year relationship between him and your grandmother. How wonderful!
Here is my attempt - my intention was to portray the workshop as a profound, important space. My condolences.

ahhhh, thanks Tim and DLM, I appreciate the condolences and your wonderful renditions. I did not mean to make this too uncomfortable for people by telling the story. My pop was a guy with a HUGE sense of humour and he was also a bit of a trickster himself. His shop was his sacred space though... the place he escaped to especially since he retired in 1983. I can't tell you how many wood carved cat silhouettes and blue jays I have lurking in my garden!

Tess,
My first thought when I saw the picture was to overlay Bob and Wendy (from Bob the Builder) into the shop. Probably would have been fun. But the personal aspect made this a lot more challenging, in a good way. So no need to apologize.

While editing your photo, I was thinking of all the good time your granddad must have had here creating and mending things. By cropping the image, I tried to make it more intimate. My sympathy to you and family.
