Haven't post any images for a long time so here's one from yesterday. Looking more or less south. Time in the EXIF is later then the shot by 1 or 2 hours, it's a DST issue I assume. Tonemapped with the new to me photomatix v4.0.2.

Thank you kind Sir!

I too felt that spot was to bright, LR says it's not blown out so perhaps there is more detail. Regardless that little bit and it's reflection do need some work. Appreciate your comments, thanks.

Tried something a little different as I was waiting for a meeting to start. Putting some good use to HDR and the Sigma 8-16mm lens

Riff and Trig: 2 totally different images but both caught my eye immediately. Riff's because of the beautiful muted colors, the wonderful perspective and depth and the incredible amount of detail with a very nice conservative tonemap. Trig with this surprising viewpoint inside a jeep which is really refreshing and in-car detail to dream of as well as a blow-me-away sky and a bit heavier but very precisely tuned tonemap.

To both of you: well done and thanks for sharing! Excellent images!

newmikey thank you so much for your generous comments, what a great way to start the day. I'm thrilled!
Trig, I don't like jeeps much but I love your Jeep, very unique POV! Ever miss your Sig 10-20?

Another from the same session, facing more or less west. 5 images +2 to -2.

Sorry about that line on the bottom right, no idea how it got there. I have to fix it as I don't care to alter the crop at all. I'll wait till I have CS6 installed.

I'm not seeing a line. It could be a case of your browser having been paused with the image half on screen - happens to me all the time.

Has anyone here ever tried analog HDR? Here is a single frame capture employing a dramatic highlight compression technique. The only blown highlight is the tiny sun flare above the entry door and the very center dot of the Sun. And the lost blacks are small amounts in clothing and in the tires after contrast adjustment.

HDR - not just for landscapes

Another pseudo HDR that rescued a pretty bad shot. the original was basically toned and pulling its exposure from his hand, which was illuminated from a coke machine off to his right/our left. A run through Photomatix was able to smooth out the lighting and pull up details from his clothing that was underexposed in the original.

Very slick... impressive... what are you using to process the HDR?
