Vegas

One I have posted before but after some software upgrades decided to revisit. I like this version much better now.

Excellent start indeed. Do you mind a few tips? Standard HDR alway comes out a bit flat-looking and dull, a standard result from equalizing the microcontrast. You can put a bit of oomph back by importing your HDR into an image editor, duplicating the layer, setting the duplicate's layer-mode to "overlay" and transparency between 40% and 60%. I also took the liberty of removing a few distracting elements and straightening the horizon. All in all a 3 minute job but I think it takes your image, which was very good to begin with, to another level.

Yes, in fact, I was kind off hoping on some tips.. thanks.... Well, a small part of the dreamy / dull effect I actually like, but a bit more "oomph" is indeed welcome. I had a look at 100% crop of the image and I think some of the dullness and ghosting is coming from one of the 5 images not being completely aligned.. I used "luminance hdr" and am wondering if there is a way to align the pictures manually whenever this happens ?

The overlay tips and removing distracting elements are well appreciated! I have to wait a few weeks until I have photoshop again (new computer) but after I will for sure make use of these!

Dullness could come from a bit of ghosting but more likely from the tonemapping itself. Of course you can manually align in Luminance, just uncheck the alignment box.

I use LuminanceHDR as well, what operator are you using? For me, Mantiuk06 with the following parameters seems to work best although I sometimes do an additional one with Fattal and then layer the Mantiuk one at 50% transparency over the Fattal tonemap.

Mantiuk06 "recipe" for LuminanceHDR:
pregamma_1
contrast_mapping_0.2
saturation_factor_1.2
detail_factor_4.9

I will fiddle around Luminance some more, but I guess we agree already because I used the mantiuk and the fattal tonemapping both I liked and i was wondering how to get a bit in between which I now know but I will first be trying out the manual alignment... and later find some new subjects...
