Quite often use it for mono.
Those are simply excellent Mark, count me among your many admirers.

Are you bracketing images or doing single image HDR or both?

Cheers

I've been doing both. It depends what I'm trying to do. Mostly my images are processed in LR3 only but sometimes I'l put them through photomatix first. The shot in the trees is a single image handheld. I like the fact that it can sometimes give you a surreal look. I think I've only done a handheld multiple image once - and that was for quite slow exposures. I'd had 3 or 4 pints of Swiss beer beforehand so pleased the way it turned out. I've used it a few times on moving water at slowish speeds and like it.

Thank you - I've said morning for you. He's sat up on the sofa with me, out of the way of the cats.

Cheers Mike.

Excellent set Josh - first one is a cracker. Very nice work.

Great examples in this thread! I find some clients like it, some don't. I guess thats the way with most.

Well, here's the right place for this. I was out this past Saturday morning doing some shooting and a got these two images:

1

2

Both of these were shot with a K5 and a DA*55 lens on a tripod at about the same distance and both are 5 image HDR series tonemapped with Photomatix. The difference is the bracketing order. Number 1 is the way I almost always do it with the camera in Av mode an the speed bracketed by the camera. Number 2 is with the camera set in Tv mode and the camera bracketed the f-stop. The difference between the two is in number 2 the tonemapped depth of field is soft but not fuzzy as in number 1. I actually kinda like the look of number 2. I hadn't really realized that the K5 was capable of doing this as I learned HDR on my K10d and have almost always shot in Av mode when bracketing.

Anyway, comment welcome and I hope this is a new concept to some as it was for me (you'd think after doing HDR for the past 4 years that I'da experimented with this before).

Thanks, I like number 1 too but [sigh] it's a bit out of focus. It was just fine on the LCD - who'da thunk?

Nice! This is a fantastic hotel. I stayed there for a week in the 1980's and loved it. Good to see it again, in such a grand style!
