Here are some HDR tests I did in RAW+.

This is 3 bracketed JPEG images in HDR (+2,0,-2)

No sharpening or PP done. Which one do you like best...RAW or JPEG HDR?

What was the exact process of these? In camera 3 shots of RAW+ (produced 6 files total, 3 jpeg 3 raw) and then merged in software?

Photomatix doesn't recommend sending RAW as their RAW conversion software is not as good as Adobe. At least that was the case last time I visited the site. They claim better results with JPEG or TIFF.

Anyway cool test I don't have time to study the images till later this evening.

Didn't know that Riff. Well, don't know much anyway, just experimenting.

Experimenting is great, I'm glad you did this.

So based on what I'm seeing on my screen, overall I prefer the jpg but there are some areas on the petals of the raw that I prefer.

A better test would probably be to process the raws with whatever software you typically use for raws and then process them to an hdr

I think I prefer the JPEG. Same settings for both I assume?
I didn't know that Photomatix was recommending JPEG.... good to know.

I don't fool with RAW. Was just looking for an excuse to fool with it. RAW is a pain, but RAW+ is more doable.

I was also looking to test a single RAW image done with Photomatrix.

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/digital-processing-software-printing/1870...ml#post1963381

The test didn't produce anything good from the single RAW image. Maybe I should have processed the single RAW with LR and made 3 exposures in LR and then processed the 3 from 1 with Photomatrix?

The single image idea came from the earlier post I submitted about Les Krims HDR work.

Was wondering if an image could be made to look like this with just a single image...RAW or JPEG. Can it be done? Or does one need multiple exposures to produce this effect?

Photomatix was recommending JPEG...I don't know? Yes, same settings for all.

As I tell the newbie to just blast away, or 'pray and spray' as the large format boys call it. That is what I do with my stuff...experiment and blast / process away. My problem is no time to experiment much.
