Our Gardens Revealed

I took a stroll around the garden this morning and shot the blooms I saw. There is a sampling on my Flickr account, 2012-05-23 Spring garden collection - a set on Flickr

Perhaps this small piece of the Bridal Wreath Spirea will entice you.

Love the idea of a garden flower themed thread! I have been taking a few now and again as the garden emerges and changes. Hope you are ready for a steady stream of "garden updates"

From a couple of weeks ago...

By the way Robert, your garden is light-years ahead of mine! My Irises have just started poking out of the ground.

I didn't really know that by starting a new thread for my garden pictures, I was actually starting a thread that others might join, but, I'm delighted! I hope that we will have all kinds of gardeners joining in and, of course, seeing everyones fantastic photos. Thanks, Tess, for being the first.

I feel that this thread would be better placed in "Mini challenges, Games and Photo Stories" Forum as this is coming up as Picture of the Week.(which of course, we already have)

This thread ( a great idea) is surely an ongoing thread and not one to be changed on a weekly basis.

I have moved it, but if there is any discussion, by all means let me know.

My goodness Bruce, that is exquisite! Such sheen, texture, colour, clarity... wow wow!

I am heading out to the garden now, but here are two from yesterday

You guys are making me try harder! Thank you for sharing these. What beautiful pictures! Your bokeh backing the white flowers (lily-of-the-valley?)seems perfect to me, Tess. The photo is also a good argument for finding specimens that have both fully bloomed flowers and buds together on the same stem. Such elegance! I don't recognize the mauve (lavender? purple? in that range of colour, anyway) flower but you have rendered it beautifully.

Garden inhabitants

I tried to make these little ones beautiful in PP, just to fit in with the general theme here, but failed. But, I was, in fact, in the garden when I noticed this clump on the wall of the house, with some tiny (tip of a dull pencil) critters moving around on a strand of spider web. On closer examination, I decided that they were tiny spiders; what they were doing all clumped together, I don't know. Then I noticed that they were not really on the wall at all, but were some distance from it, as shown in the second picture. I think they were on spider web, but I could not see it. I had never noticed such a thing before. They were all gone this morning.

Garden inhabitants (cont'd)

For some reason the second picture was not uploaded. Here it is, the "colony" just seems to be floating.

Great idea for a thread and some gorgeous photos, too! Those baby spider shots are amazing. Here's a couple from me....

These aren't in our garden, but grow wild in bunches around the side of the house.

Hey, never mind they grow wild; consider them guests or volunteers; adopt them. Thanks for joining in, Paul. Beautiful photos. Your lilies are several weeks ahead of ours but given the distance between DFW and Ottawa, I guess we should not be too surprised. Your bokeh, if I may say so, is masterful!

Friendship Iris

I don't know the real name for this iris but I do know that samples were given to me about twenty years ago as a "friendship" exchange - the "friendship" irises continue to thrive.
