Challenge #76 Winners

I wish to, thank you all, for the honor of letting me host this challenge.

All who entered should be congratulated on a job well done. I found it very interesting and enjoyable to see what each individuals interpretation created!

Each persons submission had something that I really liked or I learned something new from. The selection process of a winner was a long and well, challenging, journey for me.

My choice for the winners is entirely subjective based on my current tastes and feelings. Here is the original again for reference:

---------------------------

----------------------------------------------

My choice for the winners are:

Honorable Mention: Pentaxic
I didn't realize this was a thumbnail to begin with. It looks like an awesome new age painting. You gave me a new appreciation for this type of creative PP treatment and skill set. Would you share with us what program or technique you used?
Alas, couldn't get the thumbnail to copy.

Honorable Mention: kyc
Your creative crop and treatment did make this into an art shot! Your sky is the most colorful and it makes a striking complement to the kite. You've given new life to this image and I just liked the whole concept and composition. Well done!

Third Place: Chex
I liked this flipped version. It really changed the perception and mood of the image. I need to learn how to individually enlarge a part of an image, like you did the kite, because it works very well. Taking out the small trees by the large bunch in the foreground made a difference to how my eye traveled the frame. (much more than I thought it would). Also, thank you for detailing how you created your version of this image.

Second Place: meeverett
Your creative use of color made this image Pop with warmth and interest. The details of the kite and the kite handlers really stand out, but were balanced so it felt natural. You definitely no longer notice the washed out sky. This is just a polished and skillful PP job! Thanks, go to you also, for sharing with us how you created your version of the image.

First Place and the Winner: Tessfully
You made this image look like a soft, but very nicely detailed, warm evening painting. I was blown away by the detail you were able to pull out of the distant horizon. You can still see the smoky valley hills, but, the farm buildings are detailed. You can see for miles from this tall hill, the kite flyer's were standing on, and you enriched and added to the view. You brought out the details of the stone outbuilding so well that you can see the native moss growing , adding to the color of the stone. Just overall, it made me feel like I was back there, on a nice summer evening, watching the activity of the men enjoying their hobby. You really improved this image in subtle but powerful ways, Tessfully.!

Congrats Tessfully! I couldn't get my sky to be one color like yours....need to work on that...

Just trying to remember what I did.
Topaz Simplify to make it painting like. Nik color efex: Orange gradient for sunset. Nik vivenza: Lightened up the rock fort and a bit of the hill sloping down:
Cropped to include foreground rock fort, people and the kite.

Thanks, for sharing your process! I really did like the look you created. I don't have any of these programs, so, it gives me incentive to go check them out.
