Post processing challenge 79!

Tess kindly awarded me the winner of the 78th post processing challenge. Thank you Tess!

Here is an image I took in May before I got my K-5. I actually entered it (+post processing) in a monthly challenge and it didn't fair too well, so now someone is going to make it a winner!

The original is a PEF from my K100D (no +JPEG option), so here is display of the JPEG converted with no overt processing using Irfanview. (I copied the exif back in using another program):

[Kit lens at 26mm, F10, 30 seconds exp, ISO 200, The World Peace Bridge]

The Challenge will end Monday morning October 22. The winner will host the next challenge.

Enjoy!!!

Here are the media files:

I thought it would be fun to see what 10 minutes in Capture One could do (with no local adjustments). As always, it looked a little better before being uploaded, but here it is:

Tough one, I can decide over B&W or colour.

I suspect you were looking for a way to improve your image, in which case I've failed miserably. But I certainly had fun.

I may need to give this one a bit more effort over the weekend but incase I don't get to it, here is my humble attempt.

I was going to, but it messes up the tower, so I assumed the horizon wasn't supposed to be level.

Brought up the exposure, messed around with the colour balance, then a touch of cropping and noise reduction. Slapped on a little vignette and lens correction too.

This is a case where pseudo-HDR is handy. Ran it through Lightroom, then Photomatix, then some more lightroom tweaking. I may of overdid it a hair, but I wanted to pull the detail from the foreground a bit more AND the lights of the city. The horizon is still off, but if I fixed that the tower would lean so... eh. Lesser of two evils.

Here's my take on post processing:

Corrected some highlights, cropped and rotated a bit to level the perspective, cloned out some dust spots and adjusted some sliders.
