A fountain with potable water.
NEXT: More public displays of water.
Maybe you see the little hole in the middle of the tube. It is useful to drink without touching the tube with ones mouth. Just stop the water flow by closing the tube with one finger, the water springs out of the hole and one can drink. When a boy it was fun pretending to drink and watering friends.

Now that you describe it, I can see a hole at the top of the fountain (first image) where I presume the water bubbles up when the downspout is blocked. I vaguely remember using a drinking fountain of similar design when I was a kid. Most drinking fountains in the USA, indoors or out, have some kind of handle or four-pronged knob, usually very brightly chromed, that must be turned to get a drink, then a spring mechanism snaps it back off. Decorative fountains may flow continuously, but if you want a drink, you must work a little for it.

This fountain is cascades and spouts rather than sprays, but it may be the most famous of fountains.
NEXT:More flowing water used for decorative purposes.

A fountain. Yes. Water trickles out of the mouth. Careful, son. That's boar spittle.

NEXT: More things that dribble or squirt in public (Am I allowed to say that on PF?)

This would be a fountain if it hadn't frozen solid... Pentax KX, Agfa APX 100, SMC Pentax 28mm f/3.5 lens.

Detail of a fountain. Let me think, that's a fish rising out of the water to enjoy getting wet.

NEXT: Must be more fountains out there.

The light was amazing. Low warm winter sun but one hell of a storm blowing in. It was all a bit surreal for real, and the saturated colours are not just the effect of using Kodak Ektar!

It's difficult to spot where the water is flowing in this view. The fountain has personifications of "four great rivers" - Ganges, Nile, Danube and Rio de la Plata.
NEXT: More fountains
