Interesting. I find them in small numbers in one particular field, otherwise I don't see them. Never have I found one on any of the native plants or flowers that I've planted around the house despite going out (in season) fairly regularly hunting for insects to photograph.

Here's one I'd just rescued. After seeing this I'm guessing its a different kind of beetle. But back in Texas you would see the shiny ones flying crazily around, randomly bumping into things or people
