Another tower clock with hour, day of the week and day of the month, and looking as though it needs a little repair & restoration. Many public clocks from the earliest in medieval days up through the Renaissance had only an hour hand, no minute hand.

Image I used in a talk to demonstrate how difficult it was to get a particular magnification (image ratio) with extension + a 200mm lens compared to getting the same magnification using a Raynox unit.

This is the same 200mm f4 lens that's in the image I posted above, this time with a Raynox 1.5 attached, a combination that gives the same magnification as the long bellows, AND, no loss of light through the lens AND auto-diaphragm retained. Choosing between the two methods is a no-brainer (luckily for me ).

NEXT: More photo stuff, unusual things most welcome.

These were my 50mm and under lenses 3 years ago (except for the 18-135). I only have half of the lenses in the picture today, I still have the 15, the F50, the DA 35, and the F35-70. I also have a Sigma Macro 50, ande the DA 20-40 Ltd.

More Photography Gear, please

My collection of "deep macro" lenses, left to right: Zeiss 25mm Luminar (old lens), Nikon 3X, Nikon 4X APO, and Nikon 10X. The two on the right are microscope objectives that can be used for photography, the two on the left were designed for photo use and are equipped with iris diaphragms to increase DOF. The Luminar, dating from the 1950's I believe, benefits from about a one-stop closure but the 3X Nikon is best wide open and is my favorite of the these, although professional tests I have read rate the 4X Nikon APO as the highest resolution optic for this type of photography. Focus stacking is required.

NEXT: More photo gear that might be interesting.

Are we still on photo equipment? Here is one of the rigs for using the microscope objectives for deep macro or micro. The 25mm Luminar mounted via a T-thread tube. All of the microscope objective lenses should be mounted about 160mm from the image plane to achieve best IQ.

Here is a submission to bump the thread back to page 1.

This may be a stretch, but it is unusual: The Mayall 4 M telescope on Kitt Peak.

Lets stick with WPRESTO's theme - More photo stuff, especially if it is in some way unusual
