Keep sitting
We had some chairs exactly like that way back, in case of needing extra seating for company. Inexpensive, lightweight, comfortable, stack compactly - - - - and they break. Sooner or later the legs snap off the nicely-shaped plastic seat. Our set of four has long since gone to the dump as well.

Some seats last forever. This is an old horse drawn buggy occupied by her majesty.

Let's keep picking our seats!

This piece came down through my mother-in-law. She had it stored in the attic and mentioned it once to me as a "real antique." It's probably 19th century, and a "daybed" = both arms fold down in steps to eventually form a flat surface on which you could nap, or fold one arm a single notch down, the other arm all the way down to make a seating position similar to a modern recliner. We kept it for over two decades, but eventually decided it had to go. I took this picture when I offered it to a from-her-home reupholstering lady who was redoing another, far more modern piece for us. She eventually took it, and when I was there picking up the other chair, a lady who decorates a bed & breakfast with old furniture came and decided she wanted it, so hopefully it has a new life.

NEXT: More seating, or reclining, or being comfortable in some posture other than on your feet.

Seating in the first-class dining room of the HMS Great Britain, the first screw-propeller trans-Atlantic passenger liner. Ropes along the edges of the tables to keep plates etc. from sliding onto your lap. The backs of the bench seats can be flipped over to seated passengers can watch a show or dancing.

A very basic bench out in the woods facing a small pool that might be ephemeral or might be deep enough to survive a moderately dry summer.

NEXT. Keep sitting on the job.

Reconstruction of the "smoking room" of the Queensland Government Steam Yacht "Lucinda." and a model of the ship. It was built in Scotland in 1885 and used in Brisbane for special meetings in 1891. The boat was subsequently sold, then dismantled. Some of the fittings survive in museums and private collections. Sorry for the poor quality of the image of the model. It was in a case in the reconstructed room with impossible reflections from the surrounding windows. I think the smoking room was at the extreme front of the deck-level cabin.
