Back on the old technology, Telegraph/Morse code keys. Invented in the 1830's. The first transatlantic telegraph cable was laid from US to UK in the 1850s. I believe that was one of the biggest game changers in the history of technology.

More technology, old or new.

I'll put in a comment but no image (none suitable in the RTP folder). Sometimes a technology gets stuck so everyone makes the same things, and all the telegraph keys shown are basically the same. But an advance was made when someone made a horizontal key that closed the circuit when pushed either right or left. That allowed a skilled telegrapher to type out messages even faster.

Yes! The early/mechanical version is called a "bug" (invented in 1904), here is a company that still makes them.

SEMI-AUTOMATIC "BUG" keys

The newer version that works with an electronic device is called a "paddle".

Vibroplex | Standard Iambic Paddles

There are still quite a number of ham radio operators that operate with Morse code (we call it "CW"). Some use straight keys per my above photo, some use bugs and some use paddles, depends on personal preference. I can operate a paddle fairly well, marginal with a straight key and have never learned how to use a bug.

Goldies are very much people dogs with a very sweet face and gentle disposition, but not always. Because they are so numerous and probably because of their apparent gentility, they are responsible for more bites than any other recognized breed in the USA. I'm not sure about "mixed breeds" AKA "ALL-AMERICAN" or what I would call a dog of diversified and colorful ancestry.

Our beloved Tralee practicing the weave poles early in her training for agility.

There is a thread for pets, so I'll change the hunt to A PLACE TO SIT. There should be hundreds of images for that theme.

AN ANECDOTE: We were at an agility meet yesterday. There was a burly yellow lab that was a "charger" = ran flat out and could not be slowed down. It snapped off the last of the weave poles = crashed into it because the dog was moving too fast to get around and broke the pole at its base. No one, including the judge, had ever seen such a thing happen.

Someone told me that about Labrador dogs, maybe they are similar.
