In the early 70's we had a 6th Form Dance at my school (much like a Prom in the US) and we had a small-time band booked as the stars of the night. The band was booked months in advance of the dance and little did anyone know then what was going to happen come dance night.

Yup, the band was Argent and Hold Your Head Up hit No. 1 in the UK pop charts two days before the dance! It was really something to see the No.1 band performing at our school dance and the place was just heaving!

Happy days!

I still have my 45 of that song upstairs too and still play it from time to time.
