Grand Ridge Road. This mainly unsealed road follows the spine of the Strzelecki ranges in South Gippsland, through remnant forest for 132kms.

Here's one of my favourite roads, a single-lane track that runs off the GRR. Mountain ash forest with a rainforest understorey which survives from Gondwana times.

Contrasting streets: European urban, and western USA where roads and railroads commonly follow the same easiest route. BTW: I think there are seven hitched engines here, an indication of the mass that's coming down the line.

Navajo Bridge - completed in 1929 over the Colorado River at Marble Canyon in Arizona, is the 9th highest bridge in the U.S. at 143m (470 ft) above the river. A wider but nearly identical twin bridge was built in 1995, leaving the original for pedestrian use. In the background, looking west, are the Vermillion Cliffs. Before this bridge the only way to get to SW Utah from Arizona was to portage across a few miles north at Lee's Ferry, which had been in service since 1873.
