Reminded me of an image from years back in Northern Serengeti. I see that I should probably reprocess some of these...

Clone in a few more zebras and you'll have a black and white photo.

There were quite a lot of them, but not that many. At the time we were there they were probably gathering for the annual migration to Masai Mara.

The northern part of Serengeti is well worth a visit. Wonderful landscapes, lots of wildlife - and not at all many visitors due to the remoteness.

Certainly seems as though there should be a shorter, straighter, quicker route from here to there.
Perhaps there was a surplus of asphalt...

Typical Icelandic road = well-maintained graded gravel, leading to a typical Icelandic bridge = small but sturdy.

I see a truck on the opposite side. Aren't trucks prohibited on the expressways in New York?

Good eye! No trucks at any "Parkway" expressway.

At this specific strech of the Grand Central Parkway however, trucks are allowed. It is a half mile strech that goes from the exit for the Brooklyn/Queens Expressway (BQE trucks are allowed there) and the Triboro Bridge (truck allowed here as well). This strech is what basically connects the BQE with the Triboro Bridge.

The exception entered into effect recently (1 year ago?), to aleviate the use of the local alternative (Astoria Boulevard) for trucks going from the Triboro to the BQE or BQE to Triboro.
