Technically a footpath.
Even when it is a footpath, I like this a lot. The texture and the shadows work wonders here.

Presently many local streets are beautified by numerous maple trees with this lovely pale yellow-green of new Spring growth.

I love this. Feels like a perfect Chamber of Commerce summary of SoCal, in one shot.

Thanks! I was thinking it was kind of a "postcard-y" scene when I snapped this.

Railroad Street in Hadley, MA, which parallels a defunct rail line. The long, single-story warehouse-like buildings on the left could receive goods directly from rail cars on the other side, and transfer to trucks on this side. Some such buildings are abandoned, some renovated and repurposed. The rail line opened in the 1880's, discontinued passenger service about 1932 but continued to move freight. For the last 15 years of operation it served only one customer, a farmers' supply store in the next town eastward. As farming declined, the need for delivery of boxcars full of material vanished, and the line shut down completely about 1974. Soon after the rails were torn up, the right of way paved and it became a very popular rail-trail. The farmers' supply is still in business and has a few old RR cars at the far end of its property on what was their siding. Must get some pictures of them if I can walk back there.

Spring with fresh leaves and Autumn when festooned with brilliant colors are the periods when the maple tree lined streets of this region are especially picturesque.

Not a road, but a paved path that circumnavigates Parr Park in Grapevine TX. Taken in mid-March.

Looks like Weymouth Quay. While technically called tram lines, main line trains from London used to go down there until 1999 to connect with ferries to the Channel Isles. Today trains go no further than the main station. I understand the rails are being ripped up right now, a shame as they are a picturesque part of the place's history, but their removal is no doubt driven by some 'Elf & Safety jobsworth.

Did you mean 1899?, I can't I ever saw a train that far down. They are heritage and that should trump any jobsworth vandalism. The Health and safety nonsense couldn't hold up any any real investigation, how many people have been injured by them and what are names.......silence

I imagine all the port towns had a similar scene, and they should be preserved.

No, the last train down there was in 1999, a special tour. There were regular services until 1987 when the ferries moved to Poole Harbour instead. Parked cars obsructing the train route were always a problem despite all the painted yellow hatching on the road. Not my photo BTW.
