Monnow Street, Monmouth, South Wales

May 2023, Pentax K-1, Sigma 70-300mm @120mm

Although now in Wales, Monmouth was established by the Normans and was developed as a fortified but otherwise typical English market town. This main street was made broad to accommodate open markets, but narrows at the far end to help keep in the sheep and cattle, and at the near end (behind the photo) is a fortified bridge over the River Monnow.

Here's an out-of-character image of a road. It's just above center if you cannot spot it. I like the image because it shows there are still some expansive areas in Arkansas are almost untouched

Not a road, this is the half-mile long brick-paved Grand Promenade along the steep hillside that rises behind all the spas in Hot Springs AR. It's high enough to have pleasant views, and a really pleasant stroll on a nice day.

This looks like a driveway to the farm, but it is a street that goes past the farm to park with a couple of waterfalls. As with many farms in this country, the house is on one side of the road, the barn is across the street.

I posted an image of the dilapidated barn taken from the other side on the "scavenger hunt" thread which is currently on a "neglected, discarded, abandoned" theme. Notice that there is a much newer beyond the old one. The farm seems to active.

I posted a similar view of this street in Arkansas. The town is doing much better than this view suggests.
