Near Château Morrisette on a side road near Blue Ridge Parkway as it passes through Floyd co. VA. I couldn't resist actually driving back up this connector road to get this unique view. I'm never quite happy with the lighting on this, but it was a bright late summer day and this is what that looks like. You can see the grass panting in the heat.

Did you take that through the windshield?

I think so. There aren't many places to get out of the road up that way. I try to keep it clean but it's sometimes unavoidable. These mountains breed dirt and pollen in dangerous quantities. Most of my road pics are through the glass and often at speed, life is as a work slave doesn't let me stop very often, but I'm not letting it stop me from trying. That one would have been toward the end of a long road trip as well, hence possible alien presence. :P

FYI I've found that images taken through vehicle glass, either a car windshield or the side windows of a tour bus, commonly have muted contrast and an odd color-cast that is extremely difficult to fully correct (= the color always looks a little off). It's some combination of the tint for AC and the safety glass itself = two glass sheets with some oddly tinted glue holding them together. It least that's my interpretation of the problem.

Classic town square with multiple roads going in/out, and some kind of memorial in the center.

Main street, Yale, Oklahoma.
Jim Thorpe lived here a few years during his first marriage. The house still exists.
This town had been slowly dying away until Latino immigrants established a restaurant that brings people in from all over the area. Now, the town has a new inflow of sales taxes.
