Yes, I'm sure that slope was slickened by water runoff from thunderstorms exacerbated by the road cut along the cliffside there, also picking up a lot of rubble and cascading it over the sides

I was there over Thanksgiving week exploring both the Canyonlands and Arches NP. That road would certainly make for a great Winnebago slalom course as long as I wouldn't have to participate. Just taking a 4WD truck around those switchbacks was harrowing enough! And, if you encounter a vehicle coming the opposite direction, the one going downhill must back up to a passable section of the road. Fortunately, that did not happen...
