Great light. Had you considered fill flash (the parked car)?
I don't know about Toronto, I'm sure it's nice, but I don't think I would want to draw attention to myself and an expensive camera by using flash in a city street at night. But BigDave, perhaps you would be OK, as you sound like a big guy

Molt Road out in Yellowstone County, MT. Now this is a ROAD.
You are re-inforcing my stereotype notion of American country roads, already planted by the crop-dusting scene in North by Northwest and the cover picture on Bill Gates book The Road Ahead

A rural road in Groningen close to my house. This is actually one of my favorite roads as it leads to a nature reserve where I love to go walking and do photography and to the place where our boat is moored.

That is definitely a road I'd like to see just beyond the hood (bonnet) of my car.

Absolutely splendid. Was this taken from an observatory, Mauna Kea perhaps?

Be careful. Just around the corner, the broken tarmac stops and the surface turns into the nastiest sticky clay you have ever experienced. The bicycle path is nicely made from concrete, though.

I've experienced some very nasty clay. Out in Montana the very late Cretaceous Hell Creek formation has clay-rich layers which, when they are at the surface are almost impossibly slippery and sticky when wet. A few minutes walking over it, if you can manage to remain upright, will add more than an inch to the soles of your shoes. When it dries, at least partially, it forms a lumpy surface fossil hunters call "popcorn," except the lumps are much bigger. It is also no fun for walking.

when the low fog hit the night before, i planned to be out here for a different shot. That did not materialize but in the opposite direction was this view.

So it was semi-serendipitous = partially your initiative and partly what turned up unexpectedly. Best of both worlds.
