I believe the official USDoT meaning of that sign is "squirming road ahead".

I thought it was a historic marker. "This road was originally a well-used trail laid out by snakes."
Actually I know it is a warning. "Road laid out by drunken surveyor."

This road brought carriages and early automobiles to a resort hotel for many decades prior to 1936. Only the stone foundations of that building remain.

So how much compression do you get at 500mm on a crop sensor shooting out the windshield as you crest a hill?

Lots. You get lots.

I clubbed this photo to death in post, because handheld out the windshield on a cloudy day meant noise. So. Much. Noise.

End of the street?

I do not know what the story is behind this car. Probably caught fire from grass in a good season that got stuck on the exhaust system, but what was this was doing on this lone desert highway far from anywhere?

Locally there are frogs, squirrels, cats, and sometimes deer or a fox (saw one yesterday) crossing the road, but in Africa it can be something as wonderful as a kudu, but then again, the road below is nothing like the one I drive to the supermarket.

A place to cross a street, so don't be too distracted by the art.
