Wow, 110km/h for a truck. Anyway, a nice and dynamic image.

Better to have all vehicles with the same speed limit so car drivers wanting to do their speed limit do not get held up by and need to pass trucks with a slightly lower limit. Before trucks got speed limiters Coca Cola trucks were the fastest, I think typically about 130. Back in the 80s.

Ooh, nice. Is that one of these old Roman roads (they knew how to build a road!)?

Here's a bike path through a nature reserve near our house.

Three brick-paved streets in the Azores. The second one doesn't have any paths marked as pedestrian-safe. Apologies if these have already been posted.

A country road in Ireland that wasn't built for our 80 passenger tour bus. A VW we encountered decided not to challenge us for the right-of-way and politely backed into a side road to let us go by.

Very nice, we have been considering an Azores visit (A lot of the guys I work with are from there - I think a good portion of the Toronto Portuguese Community is from the Azores )

We had a fine time. Consider a tour package that takes you several islands, with a driver who knows the sites and sights worth a visit. We did rent a car for a while, but it was not more satisfactory than having a private driver. M booked our trip through an agent in California.because she thought they had a good network. We were delayed on Flores because of bad weather (winds to strong for the aircraft) and the network made all the corrections so a driver was there when we finally got to the next island, and the arrangements for the car we rented, both pickup and leave-off, were top notch.. M (sitting next to me) says she could dig out the specifics of who arranged our trip. She doesn't remember off the top of head the name of the agent, but it was over five years ago.

Thanks for the info. not living in the US i would book with a local expert (we have a big Portuguese community here in Toronto). probably won't happen before next year , work has me booked for enough to make travel hard this year
