I thought best to open a new thread for Feb. It is only a couple of days away after all.
As for me, I will sign up for Feb. but how I go is to be seen, booked for a cataract operation and visit to a surgeon re a hernia op.
Neither of cataclysmic proportions, but it will cramp my style a bit I reckon.

The idea is simple:

Every day, take a picture with your chosen lens of the month and post it to the thread of the day. Then other members of the group will comment on your shot. Don't be shy and comment on other member's pictures too.

Here are some more details

1. You need to join the group to post
2. This thread is only for discussing the January 2013 Challenge - if you have a problem this is where you ask.
3. You can upload your pictures to an album in the forums here, Flickr, Picassa ..........
4. Each day has a thread of it's own. Here is January 1st.
5. This is how to put your pictures from an album on the forums to the daily thread

This all must sound a real pain but by Day 3 you will be an expert! I promise

The only strict rule we have is it must be a Pentax or Ricoh body and the pictures you post must be from the same lens.

I hope to be in as well. Didn't finish out December because of family obligations, skipped January all together because my new-for-Christmas Sigma 30mm needed to go in with my K-X for calibration. It should be back tomorrow! I can't decide whether to use the 30 or the 15, both of which are brand-new!

I think I will be sitting this month out too. Increased demands at work, new changes to our home routine and uninspiring weather have all combined to suggest that at least another month off will be wise. I am trying to keep up with a few weekly challenges on the forum instead and, of course, keeping an eye on the Single In threads.

Haven't tried a Single In yet but am giving it some serious thought for Feb. I need something to motivate me to more regular shooting and this could do the trick.

I tried it for the first time in January and it was a lot of fun...but a lot of work too! I found the other participants to be great and it was a fun learning experience. Go for it!

Just got my Sigma 50-150 f/2.8, and I feel like I should give it a proper test drive. So if I can figure out a way to travel with it I'm in with that one. I also need to recover a bit from the flu that's currently driven me to the bottom of my bed. I don't think you'll be interested seeing my bedroom ceiling for too many days in a row

My new to me lens arrived this morning so I am in using a Sigma 18-125 1:3.5-5.6.

I was all fired up to use the DA10-17 for February, but then an idea took hold....

My DA21, DA40 and DA70 are wonderful little lenses, and in theory at least make a pretty tidy three lens kit. The trouble is they get very little use because they are always trumped by others; my DA*16-50 is faster and more versatile than the DA21, and the other two compete with the stellar FA43 and FA77.

So rather than taking three months to trial them all individually, I thought it might be acceptable to consider the three lens kit as a single unit and use February to decide which of them I should keep or move on.

If the group feels this is taking too much liberty with the rules I will toe the line

I have a new K01 so I thyink I might give that a run, with the DA40xs lens. Just for something different.

I intend to participate. Pretty sure I will be turning to my Tak-k 135/2.5. Bought it for $40 last year during a spell of poor man's LBA and have only put it on the camera a couple times since. I have five kids and feel that I haven't been taking enough pictures of them in recent months and have a sneaking suspicion this lens will be a good tool for this effort (along with other subjects).
